A Peek into the Aesthetic World of Korean Skincare

Get ready, fellas! The 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine is here to brighten you up!

Ever since South Korea gave us BB creams a couple of years back, the global skincare and beauty industry is experiencing a revolution. What revolution, you ask? Well, Koreans are known to have flawless skin, which we always knew. What we didn’t know was how! With Instagram connecting fashionistas and beauty bloggers all over the world, we now know the secret behind their youthful, glowing skin – The Korean Skincare Routine.

What is Korean Skincare?

For starters, when K-Beauty (Korean Beauty) products began to take over the cosmetics world, the most surprising element was the 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine. It can be time-consuming at the beginning, but we are now convinced that K-beauty is probably THE answer to having a young, naturally healthy skin. The routine aims to achieve a ‘glass-skin’ meaning a perfectly smooth translucent skin like glass!

Is This Hype About Korean Skincare Worth It?

YES! A thousand times, yes. The world of Korean skincare became such a worldwide success because their approach towards beauty products is very different from the conventional one. It is imbibed in the Korean culture to take care of their skin’s nourishment from a very young age. This does not just apply to women alone as the Korean skincare routine boasts a vast range of men’s products too.

Korean 'glass skin'

K-Beauty is all about prioritizing a healthy, hydrated skin over makeup. They aim to make your skin look naturally fresh and flawless, without having to cover it up with concealers or tons of other products. Korean skincare products give you slow but permanent solutions to skin problems rather than just hiding them under an artificial layer.

Basics of the 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine

Step 1: Make-Up Remover and Oil Cleansers

This routine believes a lot in keeping your skin hydrated. The first step is to wash your face with an Oil-Based Cleanser. The oil helps to break up oil-based impurities like SPF, pollutants, and makeup that accumulates on your skin. This works for all skin types.

TIP:  Splash your face with lukewarm water while cleansing. Try to avoid using towels as your skin is more sensitive than you know.

Ingredients to look for in the product – Jojoba, Grape-seed oil.

Step 2: Water or Foam-Based Cleansers

The second step of the Korean skincare routine is to make sure your skin is squeaky clean. These cleansers rid your skin of sweat and dirt hence preventing it from having acne breakouts.

TIP: Invest in foam cleansers with a low pH. Your skin’s pH falls between 4.2 to 5.6, and the cleanser should maintain that. How can you tell? If the cleanser is extra foamy or your skin feels too tight after the wash, you should consider letting it go!

Step 3: Korean Skincare Exfoliator

Exfoliation cleans pores and removes dead cells from your skin. Gently exfoliate your skin 1-2 times per week for brighter, cleaner skin. It also helps in making your skin ready to absorb the rest of the layering products.

TIP: Focus on areas around your nose or those that are more prone to acne and blackheads. Also, you can skip this step in the mornings and do it before bedtime. But only if you have time constraints.

Step 4: Toner

K-Beauty toners help to regulate the skin’s pH balance by forming a thin layer of moisture on your skin. It basically removes any leftover cleansers from your skin, thus acting as the perfect prep product.
